Why do you think that, do you have a huge family? would you rather buy a house or save the money? Getting married doen’t mean having a wedding.

Weddingbee ate my post.

Anyways, what I basically said was, I simply feel the same.  Mine is a complicated situation, but Fiance and I are considering eloping.  At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is being with and marrying the man you love – not how you do it.

I always wanted a Destination Wedding.  However due to us moving up our wedding, IL health issues as well as our desire to get preggers immediately, we decided to have a small local wedding.  We had less than 40ppl and it was perfect.  I was able to plan it all in the month of March.  The price tag was around 6500 including our mini-moon.

If you prefer a small intimate wedding w/ immediate family and close friends only, I say go for it.  You can always have a BBQ for everyone else after the wedding.

We had about fifty and that was pretty much my upper limit for comfort. I think if you want something more intimate, go for it. A small wedding will be just as beautiful and special as a large one, and you won’t have to worry about accommodating more people than you can handle.

Do you have any way of keeping the guest list to a reasonable number in such a way that no one can get offended? Like having only immediate family and friends who you see on a regular basis?

@Mrs.Jansen:  definitely!  at least in my case.  When you think about YOUR wedding-what comes to mind?

$3000 for 100 isn’t alot. That is going to be very, very tight. It can be done (think backyard BBQ, not hotel reception). But do you think you could cut the list even more? Or can your parents help out at all. If they have people they want to invite, they can pay for them.
