Do you have a tent? A tent with sides and a few heaters inside would be a perfect back up.

We had our wedding ceremony outside in Canada in January. You’ll be fine as long as you make SURE your guests know to bring a coat (I was shocked that some didn’t, despite it being on the invite, the reminder email and having to confirm that it was outside when they rsvp’d).

You know your guests better than we do! With a backup plan of moving inside and lots of communication, it will be a beautiful wedding!

kirstenslove :  My Maid/Matron of Honor just went to an outdoor wedding in September in Algonquin (I’m in Canada). She said the one big thign the bride did nto think of (which is crazy) is how cold it was!

I would highly highly reccomend having blankets for your guests and depending on size, 1 or 2 firepits or hearts or warming stations! If your guests are freezing the whole night that is all they will remember!

Also: another thing that other bride I mentioned forgot was little shoe heels covers for the ladies. She insisted on having a rustic but elegant outdoor wedding, but it was all grass and the ladies all ruined their shoes!

I don’t think anythign is wrong with outdoor, but definitely have heating stations if nothing else!

Our wedding was in October, in the upper midwest. It was at 3:30pm, and the high that day was 46. We had a small ceremony (family only), and they all wore coats – dressing for the weather.

Since you’re in a warmer climate, it may not be so bad.

I think you’ll be okay. It likely wont be freezing and people are smart enough to bring a sweater if it seems chilly that day.

I think you’re fine as long as it states it’s outdoors so people remember to keep a coat in the car just in case.

I went to a November wedding in Northern CA near San Francisco and it was incredibly cold so I made sure to wear a long dress. However, the bride and groom provided blankets for everyone and only the ceremony was outside. The reception was inside in the warmth. Nobody would have survived outside for the whole wedding and I would have left if there was no back up to cold weather.
