- Wedding: March 2012
I feel like I have to explain the “Wedding Palooza” title. My family likes to name things. We named the vacuum cleaner when we were younger “Bob” because it felt cooler to put “Bob” away than the vacuum cleaner. We named the trees outside the house. We have named our fake Chirstmas tree. We named some wooden ornaments my mother has and so-on. I felt like I needed to name the wedding since it was such a momentous occasion and that is how “Wedding Palooza” was born.
Back to the recap; we are finishing getting ready for the first look. I sent my DOC to pick up the flowers. I only got my bouquet and a corsage for my mother. I forgot to give my DOC $$ so I called her and said I had cash when she got back. She comes back and I am taking money out of my wallet and she says it is taken care of. I know she didn’t need to pay for them so I insist. She tells me she did not pay for them; the worker at the florist said they were “taken care of”. Now my mind is reeling to figure out who paid for them because that is so sweet. But I move on with the day and I will figure it out later.
The plan for the first look was to go up the ski lift and meet on the back part of the mountain for some amazing pictures where the peaks meet. So pretty! But it was so COLD and WINDY at the top, that the idea was scratched! Anyway, my Best People, my photographer and myself make our way to the ski lift. Mind you, we have foot passes which means we don’t have on any ski gear. I am in my dress and wearing a wool cloak while everyone else has coats on!
There was almost an injury when getting on the lift. My friend, Ashley, has never ever been on a ski lft. She did not know that they kept moving and you just sit down. She thought she had to pull it towards her. So she is facing the wrong direction and the chair almost pushed her over the ledge and in to the snow. Thankfully my photographer pulled Ashley on to the lift just in time. She ended up sitting on my dress, but I didn’t care as long as there were no injuries!
We get to the top and we had not prepped Ashley on how to get off the lift. Poor girl, she was such a trooper 🙂
We are running to the “warming hut” where the first look will happen and a skier stops us to take a picture, so we oblige. But then she wants us to wait so she can take more. I appreciate the fact that she was interested in my life, for that split second, but I have stuff to do and I did not hire you or your camera phone to photograph my wedding! I am really trying to push how cold it was up there. 12F with 30MPH+ gusts made it about 0F windchill.
We have out first look and it was so emotional, my FW cried. She is such a softie! Then we took some group shots outside. I even took off the cloak for some real shots! I also had bronchitis after the wedding and this is probably why! Enjoy!
