- Wedding: March 2012
I will only put up a few formal shots since they are mostly of family. My Destination Wedding family did not come (other that her awesome sister) because they do not and will not ever agree with our relationship. My parents and family completely agree with me being in love and happy; not matter who it is.
We have dinner and it was the same caterer as the Rehearsal Dinner so the food was not amazing, but it wasn’t horrible. It was just food. I ate some of it and that is all that matters!
After eating, I thank the guests for coming and do a toast to Destination Wedding grandfather. I have never met him, but I know he was an amazing person. She, of course, got choked up so I made it short and to the point. We toasted a shot skit to him. A shot ski, is a ski with shot glasses either glued on or held there with a bracket (like ours). Two-six people can do one at once. You hold it out to the hill to thank it for a good day, up to the ski gods to ask for another one, and toss it back.
Then there was the Corona flip which is in memory of my Aunt Connie who passed 14 years ago. We now use it to commemorate anyone you miss who has passed.
Dessert was put out WAY too early so we didn’t get a chance to feed each other like I wanted to. I had a waiter take the LAST dessert from the table for me because people liked them so much!
And finally dancing. Destination Wedding and I went to lessons,. but while I am a modern dancer and understand beats and counting, Destination Wedding does not. She hit me in the head a few times, but the pictures don’t show that!
The father-daughter dance was a highlight. We had my cousin cut music videos together and a CD of music for our dance. We started with “Sara” by Starship, then “We Built This City”, then “Chain of Fools” by Arethe Franklin (the scene from the movie “Michael” in the bar), then “Footloose” by Kenny Loggins, and finally the lost verse of “American Pie”. Guests thought we choreographed our dance, but we have been dancing together since I was really little, it all felt so natural. All the practiving we did was in my parent’s condo the night before!
The party went on and we eventually went to bed. The next day we had a shoot at 10AM with the photogs. It was outside again, but I got to wear my coat!
