I was informed last night that my ushers could not serve double duty as program and guest book attendants as well as ushers. Because our wedding is so big (compared to the typical wedding in our families) they will be too busy but that we do need somebody to take care of the other stuff, so, house party. A) Is that really necessary? and B) How do I ask people less than a month away from the wedding if they would stand and baby-sit the “guestbook” and hand out programs?

@Mrs Hedgehog: I don’t know about the guest book, but couldn’t you have the programs laid out on the chairs? That’d save one job at least…

@RainStorm: I like that idea. You don’t need anyone to hand them out. Or you could put them in a basket somewhere where they will be seen.

I don’t think you need a person for either of these tasks. I would either put the programs in a basket or on the chairs. And as for the guest book I have never understood why people think they need an attendant. People have been to weddings before they see the book and know to sign it.
