So here’s the situation:
I really want my brother to be a groomsmen in the wedding, but my fiance isn’t as crazy about the idea. I have 4 bridesmaids right now and he has 4 groomsmen (not including my brother), so if we add in my brother as a groomsmen the numbers will be uneven and my fiance doesn’t want that (problem of introductions at reception and walking up/down the aisle at the ceremony, photos etc.). And I know the thing now is that the 2 sides don’t need to be even, but my fiance really doesn’t want 5 guys and 4 girls in the wedding party. But, I really don’t feel good about not including my brother as a groomsmen in my wedding. I’d love your thoughts/suggestions about the situation!

Can your brother be an usher or do a reading? It would be kinder of your Fiance to ask him, but if he won’t do that, you can have him on your side.

Can he do a reading or a poem in the service?

Yeah, we’d talked about that, but then he won’t be able to be in the wedding party photos with us and I don’t like the idea of that… 🙁

so have him on your side, or ask your Fiance to be gracious and ask him.

Can you ask another bridesmaid so you each have 5?

Im in the same boat my fiancé has a lot of friends and doesn’t really want my brother on his side (not because he doesn’t like him he does, they just aren’t close) so I’m going to have my brother as an usher. It works out bc he is very shy so he wouldn’t want to stand up their the whole time, but he still will be involved and in pictures

The groom gets to pick the groomsmen. It would be a nice gesture if he included your brother, but ultimately, he picks who stands up with him.
