I’d give everyone a plus one. It’s just a casual party I’m assuming and I think everyone would feel more comfortable if they had a SO there if they wanted to bring one. We considered doing this and would always invite the SOs.

@Kir32:  I think your GM’s wife should be able to come. Since this is a coed function and she is part of a social unit it only seems fair that she is invited. Besides, she will probably be at the rehearsal dinner, sitting with her husband at the head table etc. it would be nice f the others could get a chance to know her since she will be involved in  wedding related events even if she’s not in the bridal party.

@Kir32:  Ignore the fact that it’s a wedding event. What would you do if you were inviting them around for an ordinary meal?

I’m betting you’d invite Best Man + wife, and the rest of them alone. So that is how I voted.

@Kir32:  I don’t think the groomsman’s wife counts as a ‘plus one’ since she is not an optional guest. Your Groomsmen and his wife are a unit who go to social functions together. And yeah, at rehearsal dinners the spouses of the wedding party are usually present and unless you were intending the leave her out of every wedding related evennt her husband is a part of then yeah, you should invite her.

Spouses do have to be invited to stuff like this, trust me I should know – FH and I have a bridal party of 19  (1 Maid/Matron of Honor, 6 bridesmaids, 1 best man, 5 groomsmen, 3 readings/ushers, 2 flower girls, 1 ring bearer and a partridge in a pear tree) and so with all  their SOs/parents we are having a big rehearsal dinner.
