Our wedding is in September and Im working on a photo list to send to my photographer. I realized today that after our ceromony we only have the wedding gardens for another 30 minutes. I would like to use this time for couple photos of me and my new husband. My issue is that we are not doing a first look so while we are doing as many photos as we can before the ceromony we arent able to do any group shots that require both the Bride and Groom until after.
Does it make sense to do our couple shots from 5:30-6 (and likely more after dark) and then ask everyone to meet 6-6:30 for group shots, which can be done elsewhere on the grounds? Does anyone have any other suggestions? I have about 10 group photos I would like done.

I definitely wouldn’t squeeze the group photos into the half hour slot. Use that for couple shots then move location for more couple shots and group shots. Run it by your photographer since they work well with helping create timelines.

Are you able to take any of these groups prior to the ceremony? Like…Bride and her parents….Groom and his parents…etc? If so…I would do prior whatever you can. Then do your couple shots during that half hour window….and then the remaining group shots after.

As a wedding photographer I never ever every suggest letting family go after the ceremony and having them meet you later. In my experience you’ll never get everyone together in a timely fashion and you’ll eat up a lot of time waiting to find people. Oops…grandma went to the bathroom. Darn….brother is off finding a drink. I guess if you’re staying on the grounds technically you could have them wait but do you really want to feel rushed through your bride/groom portraits? Can you not book an extra 30 minutes or hour onto the gardens?

Thanks for your help, I ran it past him and he did help a lot!
Thanks! We are for sure going to do as many photos as we an before the wedding
This is exactly what I was worried about. I talked to my photographer he suggested the same thing. My coordinator let me know today that since we are the last wedding of the day (our venue will do 3 a day) we can have the gardens for a little longer!
