Hi , I’m a young (21 years old) bride and I’m having a destination wedding in Rio Grande , Puerto Rico at the El Yunque Rainforest . I’m having a hard time finding a photographer that meets my needs . I just want a hour to hour and a half with of photos . It will only be our parents and I so there isn’t a lot to cover. Something affordable , maybe in the $150-$200 range . Even a student photographer would work .

@Raedaye: I honestly don’t know how you’ll be able to find a photographer in your price range. I suppose you can look around for photographers in that area, but if you’re getting married on a Saturday and say you only want the photographer for an hour or two, they are giving up the opportunity to book a full day (with full pay). You’re better off having a friend that understands cameras rent a nice camera and lense from Borrow Lenses to take shots…
Or you could try Craigslist, but you are getting into risky waters as its unlikely that you’ll be able to find someone for that cheap that is willing to do all the work it takes for a wedding. They could easily show up and just decide not to give/edit the photos b/c the would only be losing $150…

p.s. we’re date twins- I’ve also traveled to PR, so if you haven’t been, feel free to message me 🙂

@carolyn.sp.79: +1 I’ve never heard of a photographer giving their time for that amount. Even our photographer, who is in college, charges $170 an hour with a minimum of 5 hours.

@Raedaye: Hey girl, you might try getting a photog from the mainland that will do it for travel only. If you have a place you can put them up at you’d only have to pay for a flight and food for one or two days. If you look for deals on jetblue and southwest you can make that happen from souh florida or central florida for maybe $200. It will be tight. But I know a lot of people have contacted me saying they would shoot the wedding for free if I paid for travel bc they haven’t done a PR wedding they feel like they can’t charge you. Good luck!

@Raedaye: Im in Australia, and have no idea about prices etc there. But instead of asking about wedding packages, maybe ask for a couples package. Our photographer for Valentines Day is doing packages 90mins for $150.. Just a thought that maybe you could ask for that instead(?) Good luck to you!!:)
