I have a friend who is an excellent, published wedding photographer. She photographed weddings while she was VERY pregnant and it wasn’t a big deal at all. She had assistants that helped her at all times.

I suggest having a face-to-face meeting with your photographer (maybe offer to buy her a cup of coffee or something…just to meet with her in person is the big thing). You need to tell her what kind of vision you have for your photography. Show her some example photos of things you like. Don’t make them over the top things that have been pinned a million times…make them real, concrete examples of photos you would love to have.  Ask her if she will be willing to help you achieve the stylistic goal. Ask her if she will have an assistant. Many times, the assistant takes a lot of impromptu photos even if the main photographer is taking posed ones. It usually works out really well.  Just make sure you meet with her to voice your concerns. After all, you are the client! 🙂
