I don’t know anyone specifically, but do you have any friends who are photographers, amateur or pro, who can maybe give you a good deal?  Or if your friends know any photographers who are just starting out?  Photogs just building up their portfolios and stuff usually charge less  than those who’ve been in the industry a couple years.  Good luck on your search!!

I have a good friend who is just starting out in her photography business, she has done multiple weddings and is REALLY good and really easy and fun to work with! I am almost positive her prices are well below that. She lives in Orange County so I am sure traveling wouldn’t be a problem.

You can also just ask potential photographers if you can reduce the coverage hours in the packages to reduce the price. This is usually the easiest way to lower the cost of a photography package and still get quality professional photography.

@kinglr: I’m not from your area but have you considered checking on Craigslist? Before posting I checked to see the photographers who post their services and some of them were very good and affordable.

Anything less paid to a photographer and honestly it wouldn’t be a living wage. Most photogs spend 40-ish hours working on the average wedding, plus $10,000+++ in equipment, plus insurance, taxes, health insurance, overhead etc. Most photogs don’t make a lot of money, despite the sticker shock.

Look for less established photographers, or up your budget for this one thing. Photography is one thing where you really get what you pay for…and i’ve seen that proven time and time again on the bee.

I’m in Sothern California too and I know exactly what you’re dealing with. I researched countless photographers before finding a few who could work with our limited photography budget. I sent you a PM with a few contacts. Good luck!!

Lastly, is your wedding date correct? It says “April 20, 2012″…. kind of confusing.

@kinglr:  Of course! she’s a very good friend of mine so of course I think she’s awesome, but her work speaks for itself! Let me know if you end up talking with her or using her for your wedding! 🙂
