Long time member, first time post since ever! I miss this site so much. Do I have to stay away just cause I’m married now? 😉
Well, I have been asked to be a wedding photographer for my sister-n-laws wedding. I have done done their engagment photos. They are having 3 bridesmaids & 3 groomsmen. Do any of you lovely ladies have any pictures that I could use as ideas? Mainly the Bride with her 3 bridesmaids, and then the Groom with his 3 G-men. I’d love your alls help so much.
Oh, and if anyone has any cute ideas for photos, I’d love some ideas. I have so many ideas swarming in my head. I’m afraid the wedding will turn into a photo shoot! LOL!

Something tells me that if you are searching here for wedding photography advice, then you are not ready to photograph a wedding by yourself. I’ve seen relationships ruined with posts that started out like this. Think about it long and hard before you take the job, and even though it’s family and money may not be exchanged, create a contract that lists reasonable expectations and deliverables with a timeline.
Also, FYI not all of us here are ladies 🙂

The bride to be & her fiance’ know what to expect. We have done sat down and talked about it. I have also spoke to them about having a 2nd photographer that way every moment can be captured. I just wanted a couple of different ideas. I do have my own ideas. I haven’t been on this site in over 3 years, before I got married. I do have experience with photography.
And sorry for calling you all “ladies”. It is just a habit on a Wedding site. And the only reason I came back to this site and posted was because, to the best of my memory, all the people on here were way nicer than they are on another certain wedding site. (I am not saying your comment was mean.)

No need for an apology, the comment was FYI only because I was answering a post addressed to “ladies.”
I think you will get the most value from a photography forum where you can discuss these topics with real wedding photographers as well view inspiration images.

rather than giving you random, specific ideas for fun bridal party pics (for which i can come up with a ton!), i suggest you ask your sister in law to come up with a must have list of about 10 shots that she wants, and then when you deliver, she can’t complain. also ask for which combination of people pics she wants – like with friends, family, just her and Maid/Matron of Honor, parents only, siblings only – things like that.

Oh I did have her make a list of poses she wants. I had made a list too & we “compared notes”. LOL. But everything I have down she was wanting. I think it was like 20 different poses she wanted, that i also thought of, after the ceremony. There is only one idea that my sister-n-law (and I) want to do, but she fiance’ doesn’t wanna do. So it may get tossed out the window.

@AmandaV: Hey!! I shot my first wedding ever last year for friends who weren’t expecting much…I did four other weddings last year and have a bunch more scheduled for this year. If you want to ask me any questions you can PM me! I know what it feels like to be on the internet looking for advice and feel like you are the only person in your position.
As for posing, I search for pose inspiration on pinterest a lot and when I find something I like I try to think to myself about how I can direct someone into the pose.
