MelissaMacabre :  You can definitely take new photos, as long as it makes you happy. I’ve seen people take anniversary photos in different dresses and stuff. They would just be a different memory, it’s not of your wedding, but it still celebrates your marriage.

Fuck what anyone else thinks! You’ve been married for a bit over two years, why not wait until 5 years and do a vow renewal? Get to your goal weight, plan a new event, find a dress that you love and hire a professional photographer. They’re not “fake” wedding photos, they’re your vow renewal photos.

I don’t see why you can’t dress up and get some portraits taken. It sounds fun to me. Is your partner in to the idea though, cause mine wouldn’t be.

OMG I was just talking to my DH about doing something similar to this in the future last night!

I was a size 18 but my wedding dress was a size 22 (the lady said that wedding dress sizes are always higher) just giving you the sense my size difference.

Now I’m a size 10 and losing weight on my just to be healthy and I want to get down to a size 8 and maybe gasp a size 6 (that would be a dream! – I was a size 6 for a short period of time in my life and it was nice but I ruined it by over eating).

My wedding pictures were actually really great!  I love them, the person I hired did a great job making us look great…  But I would love some wedding like pictures of a thinner me!  Haha.

My husband said it’s a great idea and will support me in it.  I don’t plan to do this for a few years maybe in a 2-3 years from now.

I really don’t care what other people think… it’s what I want and as long as DH is supporting me I don’t see a problem with it.  We have two kids and we want to dress them up too!  It will be cute I think.  Hehe.

So I say you should go for it!! Plus it will be cheap since you probably only need to hire the photo person for a 1-2 hour session instead of a whole day.

MelissaMacabre :  Ha ha yeah, fair enough. Personally I love dressing up, both in the formal sense and the Halloween sense, but not everyone does.

Go for it! Make sure to post pictures here so we can see them as well! Sounds like a fun idea!

For what it’s worth, I had my sister re-take my college graduation pictures for me about 6ish months after I graduated. I looked terrible at my actual graduation, and now my grandparents have nice pictures of me to display around their homes. Totally worth it.

I’m also unhappy with the weight I was at my wedding. Now that I’ve started losing weight I’d just really love some nice photos of me and my husband when I’m at my goal weight. My husband and I have talked about doing a 5 or 10 year vow renewal. Private, just the two of us and maybe any kids we have by then and a photographer.

If it will make you happy then I say go for it!

Good luck!!  I am actually dieting with a friend that has PCOS, it’s really tough for her!   I have been dieting for a year and lost about 20 pounds, she has not be that fortunate and she’s trying really hard.  She is actually dieting so that it will help with her PCOS because she wants to try to have a kid and she read loosing weigh helps.  I was just dieting to support her but I’m all in now and I want to keep going.  Just keep it up!  You sound like you are doing great!  It’s really fun to find a diet partner if you could!

This idea seriously came to me this week, so your thread is really timely!  Hehe.  I saw a picture of me over the weekend at a friend’s party and I thought wow I look great!  I wish I looked this great at my wedding!  And then my idea kind of went from there.

We have been married a lot longer than you and we are thinking of doing it like a 10 year anniversary picture thing.  So I think you doing a 5 year one is really cute!  I bet it will be sooo wonderful!
