One of my coworkers offered to assist me with my wedding planning and suggested that she be my Day of Coordinator as well. I totally appreciate it, but do you guys think i should hire someone with experience? My fiance (mr.z) thinks its a ridiculous idea to pay someone $1,000-$2,000 to plan a wedding (especially on our small budget).
But to be honest i have NO IDEA what goes into a wedding & im terrible with planning things. I even purchased a bucketload of wedding books and magazines and yet i still feel lost..
what to do what to do..

hi ms. bittermelon!
i think your planner needs to be skilled in executing the type of wedding you are dreaming of. the bigger and more complex, the more likely you will need someone experienced. however, if your friend is an extremely organized, stylish, resourceful multi-tasker and listener, she could be better than all those planners because she knows you well and can search for the right things to make your dream wedding come true.
if you do opt to work with your friend, i would list out all of the duties you expect her to be in charge of and assist you with so she is also clear on the expectations and time commitment for such a project. once she agrees, then the fun begins!
best of luck to you on your planning!
