futuremrsvezina :  I’d go ahead and write the review because it may light a fire under her tail to get you your refund sooner in hopes you’ll change your review. I’d make sure to leave you inspiration pics along with what you received.

Also I’d ask her for her receipts on everything she bought for your wedding (especially those walmart baked goods). If she’s any kind of professional she should be able to submit them to you. I agree that she didn’t put any effort into your wedding.

ETA: I wouldn’t be surprised if she lied about making your cake. Its a lovely cake but it looks pretty generic/walmart to me.

futuremrsvezina :  I’m so sorry bee. I know how you feel because if been in this situation before (not with my wedding though–not married yet) and it was awful. Even though my guests didn’t know own anything was off, I did and it ate me up inside.

futuremrsvezina :  Wtf is $80?  That’s like 1.5% of what you paid her.  I think she’s being really unprofessional.   When I complained about a couple of my vendors, they all offered to refund a large percentage of what I paid them, if not in full.  She did not fulfill what she was supposed to do under your contract.  She breached the contract  You’re entitled to damages, aka a good refund.

futuremrsvezina :  I would talk to the BBB about her, and honestly?  Possibly the police.  She totally scammed you.  $3,000?????  Are you fucking kidding me?  This is not how a professional does business.

I had pomander balls of flowers for my jr. bridesmaids, and they fell apart a bit before the wedding even started.  Luckily my DOC had a bunch of pins and was able to fix them for the most part – they still couldn’t hold them by the ribbon loop or they would have fallen apart, but they just carried them and they still looked cute!

Anyway, I did tell the florist about it after, and she was mortified.  She immediately issued me a full refund (for those balls), which I hadn’t even asked for, and then sent a handwritten apology note with a restaurant gift card.  THAT is how a professional does business.

I chose ‘other’ – if you have lawyers in the family who can help you, I would draft her a formal letter itemizing everything that was different or missing from what she promised, asking for a refund in full and stating that this will go to small claims court if it isn’t resolved. You may not get a full refund, but if you ask for a full refund this at least gives you a starting point from which to negotiate somewhere between the 100% refund and the unacceptably small one she offered (ridiculously small actually).

Everything you describe just reeks of an amateur job- but an amateur just starting out/ inexperienced etc should be upfront about this, what happened with you I would call blatant misrepresentation. I don’t doubt for a moment that her ‘references’ are family and friends.

This might be an idea totally out of left field- but would contacting Judge Judy be an option you and your DH would consider, their show handles cases like this.

futuremrsvezina :  sheesh I’d be asking for damages based on his lack of professionalism. But you paid him for specialty plates and he didn’t make them? I’m so sorry that this all happened to you. Hugs!

futuremrsvezina :  they didn’t get a full refund but they did get a HUGE chunk back. Missing favors and decorations was one of the things they were refunded for.
