Honestly I’d take her to court and sue for a full refund plus punitive damages.

futuremrsvezina :  IA, if I was starting a new small business (something I’m actually contemplating), referrals and word of mouth are HUGE. I’d take pride in my work- and want you to be so happy with the results that you raved about my services to others.

I’m also pissed off that this woman pretty likely never had wedding favours for you and would lie about them being stolen- what if you believed her and accused an innocent person/people at the venue? Is she that low that she’d let the cloud of suspicion of theft be cast on other people (who also rely on referrals and their reputations) over something that never existed, was never brought to the venue. Shame on her if this is what happened.

I’d inform her that you’d like to settle the refund just between the two of you, but that if you don’t feel you’ve been adequately compensated for the elements of the wedding she was contractually obligated to supply/create/setup, then you’ll have no choice but to receive your compensation through the court system.

She’s completely incompetent and if you’re willing to take her to court, I’d do so. She screwed up royally and has not once taken responsibility for a single thing that she did wrong.

Go directly to Small Claims court. You will not get a full refund because she did do SOME work. As for the crappy cakes, etc. Jusge Judy would say, eh, don’t use her again. Lol

But based on my lifetime of watching my Girl adjudicate these cases, you will likely get close to half. But you cannot get punitive damages on a contracts case.

Get all your contracts, emails and pics in order and go get your money!🤑
