I think that if you aren’t hearing from them, it isn’t likely that you will hear from them later either.  This is going to cause you too much extra stress I think.

Do they not have anyone who regularly answers the phone during business hours? I think responsiveness is SO important in any vendor. I would try one more time, saying something like “I would like to put down a deposit, but I need to hear back within 48 hours. If they get back to you, ask why it took so long and how they will make sure it won’t happen again. If not, I would look for someone else.

I agree with MissAB….if they are not responding so that you are put a deposit down and set your date (give them money and business) then I would be afraid they won’t respond if you have questions later on. They should be eager to book your date because that is how they make money. I might express your concern of their lack of response in email or something and if someone doesn’t get back to you right away I would start to look at other companies.
