libellules : The Ideson really does have an insane amount of rules. It’s like they don’t want you to book them. I really love that historic building feeling.. and I’ve always wanted to get marriend in a place that wasn’t always a wedding venue. I have a meeting with them next week, they’ll help me decide if I should look elsewhere. I’ll definitely let you know if I have any questions on venues! Thanks for the offer!

ktina300 : YES! We felt that way too lol. I do have a former coworker who got married there, so it definitely happens lol.
Darling Husband and I had very similar feelings to you, and tried to avoid cookie cutter at all costs – the one venue we really entertained in Houston was MFAH actually, but at the time they didn’t allow ceremonies on site (they were desperately working to get them approved), so it ended up being a logistical nightmare. I do hope your meeting goes well! If it doesn’t, the one venue I was actually going to suggest to you (and it sounds like it satisfies what you want, coincidentally) is Station 3. It is the city’s original fire station and has a cool loft feel (we used to live in the Rice lofts, so it definitely appealed to us as well) :).
Good luck, and keep us posted!
