I just started my wedding research/planning. Need recommendations for a weddning planner in the SF/Napa/Sonoma area.
I got a couple names already and I would like to contact a couple more so that I could compare.
I don’t mind newer planners, as long as they have design background. Thanks.

hi! are you looking for a coordinator (someone to run things day of) or a planner (someone to develope the overall design plus exicution)?
The planner Im working with does California and a couple in other random cities (Vegas, Phoenix, Seattle etc). she got to know us pretty well, designed the entire event pulling from our history togehter, our families, our hobbies, etc. and designed the details around that. she even designed our centerpieces with the florist knowing what would work with her design, found and booked the vendors that work best with our budget and design, etc. Ive totally said this before, but i’ll say it again – because of her, our wedding will be more “us” than if we had planned it ourselves. im totally not that design oriented!
anyhow, we love her and working wiht her has totally put our minds at ease that the actual wedding will be completly reflective of us. her name is jessica with Moira Events and is totally worth checking out.

If you are looking for someone very experienced, no-nonsense, with a refined style to design your wedding for you, I would recommend talking to Joyce at Events of Distinction (http://www.eventsofdistinction.com/). She has a book out about wedding planning, which you may want to look at before engaging her to see if what she says resonates with you. 🙂
This is the book: “Countdown to Your Perfect Wedding: From Engagement Ring to Honeymoon, a Week-by-Week Guide to Planning the Happiest Day of Your Life” by Joyce Scardina Becker (http://www.amazon.com/Countdown-Perfect-Wedding-Week-Week/dp/0312348452/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1266815990&sr=1-1)
Joyce is actually doing a book signinng in Palo Alto on March 6, which might be a good, no pressure way to meet her and listen to her ideas.
