Our wedding is on June 16, 2012. We booked the venue ages ago – MARCH 2011. We haven’t done any planning until now. We were sent a checklist of things we need to do before our January planning session/menu tasting.
I am SO scared. Not so much for the financial aspects of things (but that is also a small factor) but the overall planning. So far, I have got my wedding dress(es) and that’s it. We are less than 6 months away.
Why did we want a wedding?
I honestly don’t know. Neither of our parents care – nor are they paying for it. There is a small part of me that enjoys the party aspect but is it worth slaving away planning for months and months for it? There are SO many details I have never thought of. I never dreamed about weddings or marriage so this is an entire new world to me.
Fiance is pretty calm (as most men are) and I don’t think we can call it off and elope (I want to go on a cruise with close family + friends). We paid 75% of the wedding already….

how have you paid for so much already when all you have is the venue and dress?!
sit back breathe and really contemplate it! weigh out the pros and cons and chat with your fiance! itll be really important to do what you want to do.

@wifegoodman: sorry I meant we paid 75% for the venue. I didn’t mean the dress etc.

Ah, I’m with you! I want it, but I can’t elaborate on why I do. When I told my mother I was engaged she said to me, “You don’t have to get married, I won’t be upset”. There is so much other unbelievable soap opera worthy family drama that it is sure to be a day of biting my tongue and smiling through awkward moments. We are both overwhelmed and working our butts off to make bank to pay for the wedding to boot. Iiiiii wish I got a wedding coordinator while I still could have…

- Wedding: October 2011 - Bed & Breakfast
It’s so worth the effort. Being able to soak in all of those good vibes from family and friends is an amazing feeling, and watching your vision finally come together makes you feel on top of the world. It’s really not that bad to plan (until the last 6 weeks. I won’t lie… they were stressful), and it is 100% worth the effort.
