jbinlove:  Oh no I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to stress you out!  Just meant to get you thinking.  I’m sure if you check on places in the next couple of weeks you should be fine.  It’s good that you already have some venues in mind, you’re already a step ahead – now to just call them and check availabilities/details.  Best of luck to you, and enjoy the process!! Keep us updated on how things go. 🙂

jbinlove:  If you are getting married in a particular Church or other particular relgious place (Synagogue, mosque, whatever), contact your Church first and set up a meeting with your Priest/Pastor/Rabbi/whatever to find out available dates (have some in mind) and in the meantime contact various reception venues so you can get an idea of costs and when they are available. You can take as much or little time as you like. We started the planning around a week or two after getting engaged (October). It has been really easy for us. The only things left to do for us is to finalize the invitation design, book a DJ, go for the food tasting and find a florist (aside from the dress fittings) and we are getting married in six months.  We booked photographer not long after because it is so important to us and we wanted to make sure that we were able to get a good photographer within our budget.

As I was reading this, I was thinking of recommending the Sleepy Hollow Country Club.  Congratulations, beautiful choice!

I was also going to offer that I got engaged in early Feb and only just booked my church and venue for next Spring.  I’m in Manhanttan as well and getting married in the city.  You are now way ahead of me having picked a dress, photographer, band, and florist!

Wow, you are really on top of the game! And your venue is so beautiful!

I just wanted to chime in to say I am on the team behind http://www.MyWeddingReminders.com – a new, free email reminder service for planning a wedding. It’s basically a wedding checklist delivered to your inbox step-by-step, and can really help with that overwhelming feeling of OMG-there-are-so-many-things. There’s an overview of all the reminders at the site.

Hope it might help, although you’ve already got the major things on lock! 🙂
