I would only be worried if D wasn’t involved, lol.  I think you two are fine since you are just engaged without the ring.

@Chemist:  Thank you!! Congrats to you, as well!! ๐Ÿ™‚

The practicality of it is the main reason we’re planning early; by the time the wedding rolls around, I will be finishing grad school, so I won’t have as much time. Also, as

kes18 mentioned, we want to ensure we get our desired vendors (our photographers only shoot a certain number of weddings a year). Finally, like you said, the more we plan and book, the more real it becomes – and the less stress there will be in the future!!

As long as you and D are on the same page, the ring is not an issue. Congrats on setting the date.

I am in a similar situation! We have decided we are getting married in fall 2013 but he has a big proposal plan that he refuses to budge from (and I don’t think he has the ring yet because he has been really stressed about money lately) so we won’t be “officially” engaged for a couple more months. He told me to start planning but I haven’t done much yet because I don’t have a ring and because he is away for work for the rest of the month. I have emailed a couple venues about dates and done a LOT of pinning and browsing online. I am also considering buying a stand in ring so I can go try on dresses but I don’t think I will have the nerve to go through with that. So no advice, just a “I am in the same boat” post! Hopefully we will both have rings soon ๐Ÿ™‚

My SO and I have already started some preliminary planning and we’re not engaged yet. We aren’t planning to get married until 2014, but we want to get married in my hometown which is 2,500 miles away. So since we’re going back there for a visit, we’ve decided to go visit some potential venues while we are down there. I’m excited, but I think my SO may be more excited than me at this point since he has dreams of getting married in this castle while dressed up in full Scottish attire, haha.
