So a lot of people think it’s ridiculous that I am taking two full days off of work to prep for my wedding.
I’m getting lash extensions, mani/pedi, hair done, spray tan, eyebrow threading, and full leg/underarm/brazilian wax. I have also dipped into some DIY body wraps. I feel like that’s totally normal!!!
What are you doing to prep for your wedding? If you already got married anything you did that you could’ve done without? Anything you wish you didn’t forego?
WHAT ELSE AM I MISSING? haha.

@mu_t: I’m taking a week off to prep! Haha, so you’re not alone. I love treatments and prepping so I’m making the most of it and spoiling the shit out of myself.
I’m doing mani/ pedi, threading, cold laser treatment, last laser hair removal appointment before honeymoon, then my Fiance and I are hitting the spa for massages, scrubs, facials, and some steam room time.
Also, doing a juice cleanse the first 3 days of my week off. I think you’re missing a massage.

@KC-2722: aw that’s so nice you’ll have some time with your future hubby. we are doing a destination wedding so i plan on having a massage once we’re at the resort… so i didn’t count that. question… what is cold laser treatment?
i think i’m going to do a juice cleanse too! would you recommend a facial? i’ve gotten like… one in my life. i’m just so worried anything i do might make my skin react negatively.

Definitely a manicure, and I’m getting my legs and bikini waxed for the honeymoon for sure. I wax my own underarm, which isn’t as bad as it sounds! I’ve also been keeping more on top of teeth whitening lately (I just use the at home strips).

That does sound a little excessive. I’m just getting my nails done and tanning regularily but not taking any time off.

@Pinkmoon: omg i can’t believe i forgot whitening!!! (i’m a dental hygienist) we are DEFINITELY going for in office professional whitening too.

I’m probably doing nails, toes, spray tan, teeth whitening, hair color & style, eyebrow threading, pro makeup, & that’s probably most of it. I worked at a salon and actually did spray tans and body wraps on clients so those r both good ideas !:)
Eta: I may do facials and see a derm in the next month or so to help with my rosey skin & give it a glow!

@mu_t: I think 2 days off before the wedding is pretty standard…there will be lots of other things to wrap up aside from beauty prepping.
Long term — I’m purchasing a 6 pack of facials and will start 6 months before the wedding. I also purchased a Clarisonic to up my skin care regimen. (Not to mention the 12months of fitness/dieting)
Short term — Hair cut/color a few weeks out, waxing the week before, mani/pedi the night before, and lashes the day of.
DIY body wrap is pretty impressive! How do you DIY that…? I imagine you need more than 2 hands…

@mu_t: I am taking 2 days off too! For sure getting nails/toes done with my girls I want to splurge I never pamper myself!

@mu_t: I’m not doing this exactly before, but from now until the wedding I’m getting a facial every month. I have some little acne (like the flesh colored bumps) that I want to get under control. I’ve been getting facials every few months for a year now, and I’ve noticed a difference.
I’m also getting my hair done, a mani/pedi the day before, and I’m getting my makeup done. Those I think are pretty standard though.
ETA: I’m a teacher, I have a 2-hour faculty meeting the Monday before my wedding, but I have off the rest of the week (my wedding is on Friday). I purposely planned it in the summer, so I would have all of that time off.

I’ve never thought of taking a day off! Now that I think of it, taking one day off would be nice. I’d get a massage, mani/pedi, waxing…maybe a hair appointment, though I’m not sure that last one would be necessary. I don’t think I’d get a body wrap because I’m not sure what the appeak is besides the scalp & shoulder massage…and I wouldn’t get a facial because I get red from extractions. >.<

@Barbiestylez: oooh tell me more about body wraps. i want to get one professionally done! you think they’re worth while?
@urbanriceball: ugh i totally shoulda started a skin routine earlier. my skin is not the best by any stretch of the imagination.
i just attempted it on tuesday. it was a sight, that’s for sure. i used coconut butter, green tea and sea salt. put it on the areas i wanted… wrapped myself in saran wrap (this was VERY tricky and proabbly not attractive) then wrapped those areas in tensor bandages. I jumped rope for a little bit, put on some lulus and climbed into bed under a lot of blankets. i lost 1.5 inches off my waist! and half inches in other areas. so it was good but i probably want to look into a pro version haha.
@FoxyBride14: so jealous of teachers! my best friend is a teacher and her wedding was mid july which gave her so much time…

@mu_t: I think everyone has great ideas. The only thing I would add is consider getting a full body scrub the day before you do your spray tan. It is an added cost, but I usually do it before I spray tan for any major events.

@LAB: oooh good idea. i get spray tans pretty frequently but maybe i should get the scrub for this special event 🙂

@mu_t: we used ace bandages soaked in an aloe solution in hot water! But you sound like you got pretty good results so maybe do your DIY wraps 3x a week the two weeks before your wedding! After we wrap the clients in the bandage wraps, we put on a special suit that made them sweat lol and they just relaxed — but I’m sure doing a bit of activity ramps up results too!!
