My dad is sick for some years now and lost his mobility 2 years ago. So he will not be attending my wedding. My brother will be walking me down the aisle. For my wedding program, I still plan on listing my dad’s name under parents of the bride under the wedding party. Is this OK or appropriate even if he phsyically will not be at the wedding? I still want to akcnowldge my dad.

I think it would be lovely. What about having a chair or him in front with his pic saying reserved for father of bride who could not attend or something?

I think it’s a very sweet gesture. I like the idea of reserving a seat. Another idea I heard about (a friend’s mom was having chemo and couldn’t attend) was a prayer candle near the altar in the venue that the couple lit together. It was mentioned in the program.

I think that’s a lovely idea. Are you considering Skyping the wedding to your dad so he can watch?

ILOVEBHH: Of course it’s ok!!!! It’s your wedding. So long as you want to do it, and you’re not hurting anyone, who cares what anyone else thinks?
Have a wonderful wedding, and best wishes to your dad who I’m sure would want to be there.
