We did a small (50 people) lunch wedding with no dancing at a restaurant with the ceremony on their patio.

We got married in my parents’ backyard with an afternoon tea/high tea reception. Following the afternoon tea reception, we had a more laidback after party with homemade pizzas and a BBQ. It was amazing fun, very memorable and very cheap.

Do you have any idea how big your guest list is? I loved the idea of seating people in the round with the dance floor in the middle but we have too many guests. We are going for more of a horseshoe shape with a few rows. We’re having a live band and a ton of us are musicians so we thought that might be a nice change. I’m also inviting friends to jump up and join the band at any point if they want!

We’re also doing a wood fired pizza truck with salad & appetizers. In many ways, pretty non-traditional!

If you want to shy away from the traditional sit-down plated dinner, you might want to consider having food stations!  It would be so much fun to set up small buffet stations that feature different foods from around the world.  Maybe your guests would enjoy experiencing different cultures!

@KoiKove:  Forgot to mention- it was a plated lunch. So ceremony at 12:30, cocktails at 1:00 ( we took pictures), lunch and cake at 2pm done by 4:30. We let the grapevine know that we were hanging out at an Irish bar later that evening (I wore my dress).

If you are having a smallish wedding (ourrestaurant could do up to 80 with no dance floor), it’s often cheaper than a more traditional venue or hotel. We had to for food, drinks, $200 to “rent” the patio, and small rental fee for chairs and sound system for the patio.

@MangoLover4Life:  It already sounds incredible!  What a great mix of cultural foods.  Desserts from all of those places would be really interesting too :]
