Definitely hire a caterer for the main meal, but I love the suggestion from jellybellynelly to have them bake something for the dessert or for favours if they really want a way to put a personal touch on it.

Weddings in my culture are usually at home and we cook the entire meal. A normal wedding could have up to 200 people stop by, it isn’t formal. We have tons of help though, any close family comes to help cook and any women who come also help with whatever is needed.

So yes – it can be done with help. Not just your parents. I personally don’t want any of my family to be cooking on my wedding day because I am not having a traditional wedding but it is not unusual to have home cooked food.
