(Closed) Wedding Registry… did your FI come with you?

Both FI and I completed the registry together.

Spared FI from this and did it all by myself.

I took a family member/friend with me instead.

@Charliejeorge:  This is totally Fiance. We lasted about 30 minutes in Macy’s then I told him I’d come back another time and finish. It just wasn’t his thing

DH and I did it together and by the end he was MISERABLE. Honestly it was not as fun as a couple as I thought it might be and thinking back I really could have done it myself.

DH and I went together–But he held the gun and did the registering! He was WAY more into it than I was!

@MrsTickledPink:  We did our registries together (one was mostly online, the other in store).  We had lots of fun!!  We tend to have mostly similar tastes– While my DH is not a “shopper”, he has no problem going shopping for the house/kitchen– and really, even though you’d never find him aimlessly wandering the mall on his own, he’s happy to come with me almost any time I ask.

As much as I understand there might be reasons a couple might not agree on an item– I’d be slightly concerned if DH had a fight while doing something as simple as our wedding registry– it’s supposed to be fun AND you can return just about anything that doesn’t work all said and done.  What is there to fight about LOL?

We initially did it together and registered for about 90% of our stuff. Then my mom and I went another day and added a few things that I didn’t see the first time or that my mom recommended.

@MrsTickledPink:  I did it myself, I registered online at target.com, because neither of us really want gifts but I felt obligated to have at least a small registry. I did ask him to take a look and see what he thought, he asked me to take some stuff off and got excited about some other things. I have tried to keep all things regarding the wedding, simple, clean-cut and easy.

@MrsTickledPink:  FH will come. Oh yes, he will. I started it online but he is going to go to Macy’s with me! Oh yes he is!

I had to bribe him with lunch this past weekend to go to a bridal store while I finalized Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses. Geeez…

Fiance wanted nothing to do with registering. We’ve lived together for over 2 years and lived on our own for years before that so he didn’t think we needed much. I on the other hand was excited to upgrade everything! I went to Bed Bath and Beyond right before Christmas…. DUMB! They were so busy and no one could help me, but I managed on my own and now have been updating it online.

We did our together. He’s super picky and super involved in this whole wedding thing (bless his heart but sometimes I dream of a groom that doesn’t care). We had a lovely time, and picked out only a few things. He did do a lot of ‘We need to go home and research items.’ He’s so cute.

We actually registered online. It was easier, less hassle, and we were able to compare between the different stores plus read descriptions without pressure. We registered online at Target, Pottery Barn, and Crate & Barrell. It was painless. We both logged on to the account we made and it added items and talked about what we wanted and didn’t want. I also manage it online deleting and changing out items.

@MrsTickledPink:  I voted that we both did it, but I did the vast majority of the work. We registered online rather than in store, because we live so far from civilization (profile location is old) and that way we could break it up into small bites.

I picked most everything, since it was almost all kitchen things that he would never use. I asked for his help in picking out things we would both use, such as china, a cocktail shaker, etc. And I asked him if I was forgetting anything. I may have asked his opinion once on cookware, but he really didn’t care s I stopped that.

I think if we did it in-store, it would have been a recipe for a fight, because Fiance hates shopping and would get cranky, and I would get cranky from being tired from walking around the store 60 times. So I think we did well.

@MrsTickledPink:  I ended up doing part of it with DH and part on my own. I registered for a lot of things online, but when it came to picking stemware, flatware and tableware I made an appointment and went on my own, and put 1 of each pattern of my top 2 choices on the registry. Then I went back to the store later with DH so I could show him the “finalists” and pick the one we wanted to register for. Certainly saved a LOT of time and fuss and energy (although I did have to go to the store twice, but who doesn’t love a trip to Bloomingdale’s?). Then while he was there we registered for things he wanted like knives and grilling tools. For us, that ended up working really well and it made him feel like he was involved (even though, let’s be honest, he didn’t do much!).
