(Closed) Wedding Registry – How soon to register?

@MsGinkgo:  You can do it whenever you want honestly, especially if you are going to make a wedding website. But don’t be suprised when no one buys anything off of it until closer to your wedding/shower.

i wouldn’t do it until a month or two before your shower invites go out.

if you register now and your wedding isn’t for another year, a lot of stuff may be discontinued/out of stock

I registered about 6 months out. It’s close enough to whenever someone would throw me a shower, and I don’t have to worry about things getting discontinued. I would make a list of all the things you really want and make a private registry if you really want, but not do a public one until about then.

I heard that you should register as soon as possible since some people like to give engagement gifts. However, keep in mind that for linens and seasonal things you will want to update your registry closer to your wedding date.

I registered 6 months out and keep having to update with stuff being discontinued, but someone already bought something!!
