Hey bees! I need to start ring shopping again (YAY!), but for a wedding band this time. And I’m having a dilemma over what I should get! Need the Hive’s opinion!
I have a pretty intricate e-ring (see pics below). I love love LOVE it. It’s everything I’ve ever wanted and I am constantly ogling it haha. My issue is that I’m a nurse, so I’m constantly washing my hands, putting on and taking off gloves. I don’t wear my e-ring to work because I’m afraid I’ll lose it in a glove or drop it in a bedpan full of yuck.
Now, I’m a little OCD and I want a matching band for my wedding ring. My jeweler DOES have the matching band and I LOVE it… But, like with my e-ring, I don’t want it to get all yucked up at work. So then I was thinking maybe I should settle and get just a plain band? Though it wouldn’t really mesh with my blingy engagement ring.
What it comes down to is that I don’t want to take my wedding band off. Ever. Like I want to shower with it on and everything. I treat my engagement ring like it’s gonna break if I look at it the wrong way, I’m paranoid about it. But I love it haha. Once he slips that wedding band on my finger, though, I don’t ever want to take it off.
So I guess really I should just get a plan band, right? Though I really LOVE the matching band for my ring. And I’m not a fan of stacking. I mean I am, but I don’t think I’d like it with my ring.
Advice? I’ve put up a poll to see what the majority thinks…. Below are reference pics of my lovely ring! Sorry they’re huge 😮 Thanks for your thoughts, Bees!

What about getting two? The matching ring and then a plain one you can wear at work? Both can be blessed on your wedding day.

@PinkMagnolia: I agree with this. I know you said you don’t like to stack them but you wouldn’t have to… you could buy two wedding bands (one plain band and one to match your e-ring) and then just wear the plain one to work and the one that matched your e-ring when you aren’t at work.

I have two – a plain 2mm one and a diamond band that I got for my 10th anniversary. I probably wear the plain band about 75% of the time because it’s just more practical. I also love the look of just the plain band.

I say go with the matching band. It sounds like you truly want that one in your heart. Platinum is not going to be affected by you washing your hands a lot, so can you get platinum for your metal?

First of all your ring is dreammyyyyyy! And I agree with what @mylittleviolett said, I think you should get the matching one for when you aren’t at work, and a plain one that you can wear to work.

I am in the same boat as you & we decided to buy two!
I have a beautiful engagement ring & matching band that I wear 99% of the time, however, when we travel (where i will be swimming) or work, or sports etc, I have a plain wedding band that I can wear and not feel bare.
That was the best solution for us. And it can be a cheap alternative band. We went to a mall jewler when they had a sale and got rings for under or close to $100. Not to shabby!
