I had my heart set on a custom designed ring that is close to 6 mm and have been planning for months about it. Yesterday I was at the mall and tried on a 6 mm w/ my e-ring and my fingers are way too short to pull this off. My fiance and the sales person hated it and said it makes my finger look very stumpy. My fingers are wider at the bottom than my knuckle and I wear a large ring size of 10. Lovely
Fiance and I checked out other bands and it looks like 3 mm is going to be as big as I want to go. Problem is I want something very unique and everything I’m seeing in this size is the normal channel set or eternity bands. Nothing has said “wow” to me. It’s not possible to have the original band taken from 6 mm to 3mm, the design won’t allow for that as it needs much more metal since the diamonds go diagonal.
At this point I’m ready to just say forget it and get a plain band and be done with it. We’re getting married in less than 6 weeks. I know I can just get a plain band for the ceremony and decide on a diamond one later but then there’s the issue of what metal. My e-ring is platinum and I had planned on a palladium plain band I could wear at the ceremony and then when we go fishing and stuff. I don’t want to buy a plain platinum band only to buy a platinum diamond band later, I won’t be stacking them and price wise it’s a bit much for us.
So what do I do? Stick w/ the palladium band for the cermony and HOPE I find a diamond band I like 3 mm or just get a plain platinum 3 mm band and live with that? I’m soooooo frustrated right now.

I would love to help you think of some alternative wedding ring ideas but I think it would help to see a pic of your Engagement Ring and an idea of the band that you had wanted….
Also, have you considered getting two wedding bands that you can alternate (wear one with your ring at times and at other times, wear both rings with your E-ring?) This is what I do….it’s nice to have the diversity.

in my opinion, if you love that ring……….. then you can pull it off. that’s all there is to it. it is all about confidence

I know what you mean – I love all the unique and thicker wedding bands, but they totally don’t work with my fingers or my Engagement Ring 🙁

Adding, this is a pic of my e-ring. It is 2 mm knife edge.

Maybe if you put bands on both sides it would give you the wide look you like without having to do one wide band??

@corgi…that was exactly the advice I was going to give. Do one on either side.

Beav, you must be a mind reader. I went to a jeweler today to order FI’s ring and and she was suggesting bands for me. She picked the exact one you posted #5.
I’m either going to go with that one or a 2mm shared prong 3/4 eternity.
