My Fiance dropped off our rings at the jewelry store to be engraved with lyrics from our first dance song. At the store, they never asked us about the font that we wanted. They later called my Fiance that week (he did not tell me) and had the ring engraved in Arial writing. I hate the way it looks (looks very elementary)! I had always pictured a fancy cursive type writing for the engraving on my wedding ring. Should I make a fuss and have the rings re-engraved? I feel bad because my Fiance did not realize that I would not like it (he said “I thought it would be easier to read”. Help!!

I don’t think you should make a fuss because it’s not really the jeweler’s fault but if it’s something that is going to big you then go ahead and get it re-engraved. Will this affect the integrity of the ring at all?

How were they able to fit lyrics on the inside of your ring? I mean, engraving is small on the inside of a ring!

And, yeah, small cursive inside a ring is difficult to read. Most jewelers advise against cursive for inside engraving. Will you be taking your ring off to look at the lyrics often?

I wouldn’t make a fuss because it’s not their fault, but it shouldn’t be a big deal to redo it I would imagine.

Sounds like your fiancé likes it… not sure what the problem is?

It probably should have been something to ask BEFORE you got them engraved. If there was an option for different script I would imagine that the jewler would have advised you.

As long as fiance won’t be offended, then yes get it re-engraved!

The same thing happened to me. My fiance had my ring engraved with lyrics from our song and I loved the font. However, I had to have the ring sized 2 sizes smaller. I told them that I did want it re-engraved. I really dislike the new font they used and it’s crooked and it’s way harder to read than the font that was originally used. I was initially really annoyed about it but I didn’t think it was worth the fight. I’m sure they can redo it for you if you’re really unhappy with it in a few weeks. Did they show you any font options?
