- Wedding: December 2011
So recently Mr. McB and I decided that we were going to go from our big dream wedding down to an elopement for financial reasons and because due to problems in his family (one of his brother’s took his own life last September, and his oldest brother lost a child last week) we don’t feel like it’s right to have some big, happy celebration when they are miserable.
Anyways, we thought we were pretty well set because we had bought our rings a while ago, so we didn’t have much to pay for. The skinny on my Spence Diamonds wedding set is that it is;
-An 18K gold Interlocking E-Ring with 0.25 CT Diamond Solitaire
-An 18K gold Interlocking Wedding Band with six small diamonds in two diamond baguettes flanking the solitaire.
To be clear the floor display that Mr. McB made his decision to buy my Engagement Ring on, is complete with both the e-ring and the wedding ring and they fit together perfectly. I’m fine with my Engagement Ring, it’s a little small but there’s nothing wrong with it at all. It’s the wedding band that is a whole bag of crazy ring nightmares.
My wedding band came in three weeks ago and right away we knew it was wrong- they ordered it in a quarter size too small. And when they were interlocked they didn’t match up at all and there was a massive (think an eighth of an inch) gap in between the two bands. Also you could see the interlocking piece sticking out. At first we atributed this to the incorrect sizing, and sent it away with my engagement ringso they could get it right. I was assured they would match it up perfectly and they could eliminate the gap.
Well yesterday we got called back in to pick it up and it’s no different! I was visibly upset with the outcome and the receptionist said she was sorry but they “can only get them so close together even if they sauder them.”. Then how is the display perfect?! Regardless, we went home with this ring that even my fiance hates because it looks so insane together. We’re still able to return this awful wedding band but the engagement ring is interlocking and oddly shaped so it won’t go with anything else.
Mr. McB is angry and feels like he’s been messed around on his warranty because they initially told him that if I decide I don’t want the engagement ring I have within a year of buying the ring (we have until November 1) that we can get a new one so long as we pay any difference that might arise. So we figured, hey we’ll bite the bullet and get a different set. Yesterday they told him that they don’t do that and he must be mistaken. When we checked his warranty they can do this and we feel like they’re stone-walling us, which makes us not want to even give them our business again, and Mr. McB wants to demand a refund.
Do any Bees have experience with Spece Diamonds? What should we do here?
