Hi everyone! I am in the process of picking a wedding ring. My engagement ring is from Blue Nile and is 2mm petite pave setting. I want my wedding ring to also be a pave band. Blue Nile has a petite pave platinum band that is 2mm wide with diamonds half way around. It’s the exact match to my engagement ring. I had always thought that I wanted my wedding ring to be eternity (diamonds all the way around), but the only eternity wedding band with petite pave diamonds in platinum is 1.8 mm. I am torn because I imagined them being the same size and I feel like the difference isn’t enough to look intentional, if you know what I mean. Which would you go with– the exact match that is a half circle or the eternity that is a little thinner? They are the same price, for what it’s worth. Thanks!
My engagement ring is above.

@SouthernLawBride: i think either will be ok. i don’t think the size is much of a difference. have you tried on the 2 different sizes to see what will look better?

@SouthernLawBride: My biggest issue with full eternity bands is that I’ve heard they can’t be resized. My second biggest issue is why would you want stones in places you can’t see them? It seems like a waste! That being said, I would probably just get the semi-eternity. It’s probably a better value.

My engagement ring is like 1.6-1.8 (plat) and my wedding band is 2mm (white gold). They look fine together and no one has noticed. I say go for the semi etenity band.

Like Miss_Words: I am not a fan of Full-Eternity Bands… for the following reasons:
* You are paying for Diamonds you cannot see
* The Diamonds on the underside get bashed around a lot (so prone to falling out over time)
* Many state that they find Diamonds on the underside uncomfortable (more so if you have not a smooth type setting)
My own Sparkly WBand is a Half-Eternity Half-Carat Channel Set and I LOVE IT !!
Hope this helps,

I say go for the half eternity that is the same size. I don’t like the idea of diamonds going all the way around because they will get bashed and you never know which was is “up” so they will all get bashed.

Between the two, I would go for the half eternity which is the same size. Partly because I think half eternity is better (for reasons PP have given above) and partly because I personally do think there is a visible difference between 2mm and 1.8mm. Not that this is necessarily a bad thing and it can look great, but if you want them to match perfectly (not everyone does) then I don’t think the 1.8 is the way to go.
Why are you only looking at blue nile though? There must be 2mm pave rings in platinum all over jewellery shops and the internet.
If you’re really struggling to find what you truly want, maybe you could do a custom order?
