Hello Bees!
I am not engaged yet – I’m expecting it will happen sometime soon, though!
My SO’s mother gave him a family ring, his great great grandmother’s wedding ring. It is absolutely beautiful. I will be so honored to wear it (and it fit me perfectly when I tried it on. Totally meant to be!) It is platinum with diamonds, but I don’t know any of the specs.
So my question is, should it be my wedding ring or my engagement ring?
If you say wedding/engagement ring, I’d love some suggestions as to what style engagement/wedding ring would go nicely with it.
Thank you!

I like it as an engagement ring. I think a plain band would go nicely and not overshadow it.

I voted engagement ring. That ring is way to gorgeous to play second fiddle to another ring. It is stunning!

It looks very similar to my engagement ring, its lovely! I don’t see why you would want to use it as a wedding ring.
Here is the band I paired with mine!

Engagement. Like PPs have said, it’s too beautiful to just be a wedding band!

That’s so sweet that you will wear his great-great-grandmother’s ring!!! Added bonus is that it really is beautiful!
If it is a wedding band, I think the only thing that would go really well with it and not take away from it would be a solitare. If you use it as the e-ring, I’d go for a simple, plain platinum band to make the diamonds pop out more as the “main attraction.”
But I don’t really have any suggestions other than whatever you want to do! It could easily be used as a wedding band (though an unusually spectaular one!). So it just depends how much bling you want! I love diamonds so, personally, I’d make it my wedding band and get a big(ger) solitare to go with it. However, if you are a more low-key gal, it still makes a beautiful and more practical engagement ring.
If you a gemstone type person, I think a sapphire would go great with it too.

I would use it as both… Don’t think I’d want to pair it with anything.

I am so excited to wear it. She wore it as a wedding ring and my SO’s mom told me I could wear it either way – that’s the reason I’m looking for feedback.
Thanks ladies!
