My husband and I just celebrated our one year anniversary. For my engagement ring we used the diamond that my dad gave my mom. I also chose a simple engagement ring and a diamond wedding band. Now we are ready to upgrade my engagement ring. I found a setting that I really love! The only problem is that the new ring doesn’t match my wedding band, and I was set on keeping my wedding band.
I am fine with trading in my old engagment ring, but when I went to do the same with my band, I started crying in the store and couldn’t do it!!!! I have no idea why I don’t have the same sentimental feelings about my engagment ring, but I guess that’s just how I feel.
But now I am very conflicted!! Should I keep my wedding band and wear it as a right hand ring? Is it too soon to upgrade? HELP!

I would wear it as a right hand ring! If it means that much to you to keep it, and you also love this new setting, it is the best of both worlds!

Girl, keep it! You cried at the thought of trading it in, if that’s not a sign that you should hold onto that puppy I don’t know what is. As PP said, you can wear it as a RHR or just save it to wear whenever you feel like it and to pass it down one day.

Thanks for the advice! I am definitely going to keep my wedding band! I’m just between upgrading the diamond for now or the whole set! I’m gonna have to sleep on this one…

If you love the wedding band so much, I would choose your new engagement ring setting based on what looks good with the band.

haha I know! I wish it was that simple. I couldn’t find anything I liked that matched.

I’d keep your wedding band, wear it on your right hand or as a stand alone wedding band sometimes. Upgrade your setting and find a matching wedding band to go with it as an anniversary set. Or you could always look for/ design an engagement ring to go with your exsisting wedding band. Would you mind sharing a picture of the wedding band? Maybe we could help find something to go with it!
