I was wondering if there was anyone out here with an outdoor reception? We are having our reception in my parents back yard and are renting a huge white peak enclosed tent, it can accomidate up to 150 people. We are hoping to have many outdoor activities. My main concern is that if it rains people are going to be bored lol. And the main issue is the ground…even though the tent is enclosed i am worried that the ground will become soggy. Can you tell that I read the Farmers Almanac for 2011 and am now in panic mode?!! PLEASE HELP

You chose to have an outdoor wedding, you really have to just relax and not stress about the weather.
I am having an outdoor ceremony and indoor/semi outdoor (no AC) reception.
When we made the decision to choose this venue we knew what risks we were taking in terms of variability with weather (especially since the last three years that week has been very different here each year!). You can’t stress about it, don’t panic. You’re day will be yours rain or shine!
If you keep your wedding schedule/timing pretty tight people shouldn’t have time to be bored -regardless, it’s a wedding….boredom is for the ceremony only if it’s a really long church ceremony!!

Placement of the tent is also key.
It should be placed in an area where the ground slopes away from it, so if it rains the water drains away and does not soak the ground under the tent.
If that is not possible, I highly suggest you have someone dig a small trench around the tent to take the drainage away. Digging up a 4 inch wide lenghth of sod will be sufficient. Promise your mom and dad that you will help repair it after the wedding.
Also make sure you have a safe pathway from the house( if you are using the bathroom inside) to the tent-place stepping stones or patio squares etc so if the ground is all soggy guests can safely go to and fro.
