How about just not having a “theme”, but a color scheme? Once you choose your colors you can then choose more of a visual for your wedding ie-centerpieces, favors.
Hope this helps!
ps- I totally understand how you’re feeling and that’s how I was able to choose my theme.

I haven’t looked at Alfred Angelo… either way, good luck with your search!
@FuturMrsLLL: I may try that, so far, the colors I’ve got are as follows:
DB Lapis is the main, Ivory, and Chocolate Brown. The floral arrangements are in yellows and deep oranges to offset the Lapis. I got all the flowers at Hobby Lobby at half price!

Oooh love great deals!!! Ok so what will your table cloths be? Will you have chair covers? If so what color chair cover and what color sash(if you want)? That’s a good place to start.
Also, will you have charger plates? Colored napkins?
We arent going with flower centerpieces. Ours is in November and we are doing silver/gray, eggplant, black/white. We are doing all candle holders with candles and votives.
Do you want floral centerpieces? Candles? Both? Since you’re on a budget maybe go to the dollar stores in your area and get votives.
Just a thought, but with your venue and your colors I think candles would be beautiful.
Hope this helps some. I know that it was so much easier when I picked table covers and chair cover colors. It put my mind at ease.
Hope this helps!

What I did to “unify” all the clashing ideas I had was to play with inspiration boards for a while, gathering all the pictures that I liked. From there I noticed that there were quite a few elements that were coming back and I used that as my final inspiration board. It helps you define shag you real want/what’s doable/what fits your venue in the wonderful work of wedding prettinesses…

Well, I know I’m going to be using a dark purple tablecloth… if I could afford it, I was going to do an Ivory/Champ. tablecloth with the dark purple overlay. I was going to try and forgo the chair sashes, as I’m on a super tight budget. The centerpieces will be mostly floral, but I plan on having tons of little votives. I don’t think I’m doing charger plates or anything too fancy… I want it to be nice, but low key. Thanks for the tips!

I would suggest creating an inspiration board or two…it really helps bring all your thoughts and ideas together. Love your color scheme, btw

Thank you! I’m actually fiddling around with the board right now. It’s helping me sort of “see the big picture”.

Agreed! Themes aren’t necessarily needed.

Whenever anyone asks what our “theme” is I instantly say wedding! I mean it’s not a birthday party, why can’t it just be a wedding?

I am in the SAME boat…..getting married in Nov and I am actually wearing the same dress (which I have doubts about) But I have our colors, Ivory, Chocolate and Blush and actually the venue doesnt need much decorations. It is at a winery and there is a cave-like room where the ceremony is. But I dont have a theme and I wonder if I need one. I never thought i did until I came on this website and read all the magazines. Sometimes I think they are over the top but some can be SO memorable. hmmmm

You know, the more I see these themes and such, yeah sure, they are pretty…. but I feel like I may just lose sight of what the day is actually about…
I had sort of a meltdown yesterday. But, on a level-headed note, there’s no reason to stress over not having a theme. Nice to see another bride with similar taste in dresses though lol. But I have decided not to go with a set theme. I’ve gotten too wrapped up in all the fancy stuff that doesn’t really matter. So in truth, if you don’t feel like you need a theme, don’t go with one. I’ll leave this thread open though, for other unsure brides. I hope it helps someone else.
