I’m getting married in June and I’m so excited about the planning. I’m curious about other wedding ideas everyone else had with their weddings coming up or past.
We’re having our wedding outside at a cottage by the lake in Upstate New York. That we rented for that week. It’s going to be a small wedding 60 people or less. My future in laws purchased the catering bbq restaurant. We’re having 6 long tables all together with lots of light and candles and fake flowers on the table. Our colors are dark blue, light pink and light green. The backdrop of the ceremony will be simple drapes. I want the chairs to be in a U shape so everyone can see. The bridesmaids will be wearing floral dresses they choose as along as I give the final yes. The groomsmen will be wearing dark blues trousers and dark blue tie and suspenders. My groom will be wearing a dark blue vest as to stand out. I’m so excited and can’t wait to get married!

We’re going very casual. Think taco bar, karaoke, and board games. I can’t wait! I’m hoping to avoid flowers completely though, but lots of drapey fabric and uplighting. I supposed we should settle on colors at some point. At the moment, we’re thinking white and various shades of blue.

ashieleigh2 : First, so glad you started this thread because I’m curious too what everyone is doing. We are having 2 ceremonies, first one is civil (mandatory for us) then a second one which will be on a later date is a religious one. My SO and I have 2 different wedding visions so we compromised by doing one each.
The civil wedding (mine) will be at a beach resort and a judge will come (instead of us coming to him at the courthouse) to marry us. It will be an afternoon event and laidback and casual. I am not even buying a regular wedding dress but a white or off white chiffon bridesmaid dress instead. My decors will be tropical style with, bamboos, colorful yellow & orange orchids and food will be Hawaiian bbq. We are also not having a bridal party, guests will be around 50 maximum only and both ceremony & reception are outdoors.
The church one (his) will be at his hometown in Europe and it will be a Catholic ceremony. We have not looked at any venues nor have we spoken to any vendors yet. But we will have a wedding party and I guess the style we are aiming for is somewhat classic/vintage-y? We plan to invite about 125 people and it will be an evening formal event indoors. Oh yeah, he insists on wearing a tux LOL. Haven’t decided on the color scheme yet but in alignment to this style, thinking more like white, silver, lighter pink maybe.

We plan on only 75-100 people. I don’t want outside wedding because of my fear of rain. Yes tent but still. Colors are black and deep red. Thinking of adding gold.

Still formulating a plan, but:
Courthouse ceremony in DC followed by a sit-down dinner for around 30 people.
Garden party the following week at his parents’ house in NY for about 75 family and friends.
I want to find a beautiful restaurant so I don’t have to decorate anything but for the BBQ I want to decorate with lots of candles, fairy lights, and flowers, probably in soft pinks and white.
Unfortunately, there may be beer pong. FI’s fault.

We’re having a mid-November wedding in an old historic courthouse that has been renovated as an event space. The walls of the venue are pretty vibrant so we are sticking to a pretty neutral color palette of Hunter Green, Gold, Gray, and pops of Light Pink. Our centerpieces are going to be fur tree wreaths with antique glass oil lamps lit in the middle surrounded by mismatched mercury glass votives. We are also doing floor length white linens and gold chiavari chairs that we scored for an amazing deal through our venue’s parent venue.
Ceremony Space

Reception Space

Our bridesmaids are going to be in long hunter green dresses if their choosing and the guys are wearing dress jeans with light gray dress shirts and charcoal vests and ties. My Fiance is wearing a hunter green tie and has a gold lapel pin of a stag (he’s an avid hunter) to stand out.

smalltownbigworld : that is a beautiful space for the wedding and ceremony. I’ve never wanted to get married indoors but I would totally take that place. It’s gorgeous. Sounds like your wedding is going to be beautiful.
