    I think it is easy to get caught up in trying to make the wedding suit the venue and end up with a theme/color scheme that is not you.

    There is nothing more retro than a lodge. It was the 50’s and 60’s when a lot of families could finally afford to have that place iin the country.

    I don’t think 1950s and lodge necessarily clash, either. Maybe a retro picnic theme? Or more Rockabilly/Country-Western?

    I have a similar style clash (Modern taste in a rustic, historic venue). I think coming up with a theme that incorporates both styles can actually lead to a more original look then picking one or the other.
