SORRY I DIDN’T REALISE UNTIL AFTER I’D POSTED THAT THIS WAS UNDER THE WRONG SECTION!
Ok, so my problem is, I have no idea what ‘theme’ our wedding is going to have. I’ve decided to DIY our invitations and other stationery, but I’ve been googling and searching online for ideas for weeks! Nothing seems quite right. I’m getting kind of desparate for ideas now, since the invites really need to go out by the end of the month.
I’m not looking for a full-on ‘theme’ like a fancy dress party has – just something to tie the whole day together. Our colour scheme is mainly white, a hint of silver and dark purple accents (chair sashes, bridesmaid dress, a few flowers in the bouquet etc). I will admit, I do love anything sparkly and blingy but again, not too OTT.
We’re having these same candelabras as centrepieces, on the same mirror base, with a few tealights around the edge (the tealight candle holders are round and made up of the same little crystals that are hanging from the candelabra) and some little crystal ‘scatters’ on the mirror.
I really need some invitation and stationery design ideas to tie this all together asap!
Thanks a lot in advance!!!!

The candelabras and colors suggest very elegant and “princessy” (probably not the worD im looking for but the only one that comes to mind) to me. You could have white with silver accents on the invitations, maybe get a cricut edge cutter with some fancy swirls or a pretty deaign to make them Look a bit more elegant.. And you could add some purple ribbon to dress them up.. Just some of my own opiniOns on what I might do! I think with what you have you could easily pull off “an evening of romance” type theme.. But I guess it all depends on what will suit you both as a couple too!

peacock? add in some more jewel tones to complement the silver & purple. Candlesticks and purple make me think of beauty and the beast 😛
Color can be a theme – your theme could be as simple as “elegant silver” or “royal purple”
My theme is “tropical fuschia tangerine” and I mostly played off of the colors.

Elegant chic is what I would call it!

Your theme inspired me this following examples, simple and elegant with a twist, ivory or white paper with dark purple writting and I would probably attach a silver ribon to them …
This invitations are from wedding paper divas, I love their desings and the quality of their work
Keep us posted to know what you chose

@danicalifornia: “Royal Purple” sounds lovely!!!!

@lila2012: Thanks! I really like those examples, especially the first one. Very nice.
I was thinking a little bit ‘princessy’ too lol My dress is one of Alfred Angelo’s Disney Princesses (Tiana) so it does kind of make sense! Lol
I also really like the peacock idea. I can picture the colours in my head. Gosh this is so hard.
Designing the invitations is definately the hardest part – well for me anyway. I keep seeing something I really like and then finding something else I really like and so on. My fiance keeps telling me to just pick something already or just print them on plain white paper and be done with it! Must be a man thing lol!
Thanks for the tips ladies! I’m off to the craft shop today to pick some supplies (I’ve already got some dark purple shimmery card for the ‘backing’ of our Save The Dates which desperately need to go out this week) so I’m gonna use your inspiration and hopefully find something! Wish me luck! I really need it…

@MissClueless: Can’t wait to see your final choice !

This is what I decided on. I’ve only finished and posted the Save The Dates so far. I used a dark purple shimmery card for the backing mat, printed on white paper that was just slightly thicker than normal printer paper, I bought a corner stamp and embossed the pattern onto each corner using clear pigment ink and silver embossing powder. The hardest part was stamping the paper and putting the embossing powder on – I used some small makeup brushes to get all the excess powder off but because I didn’t use anything to reduce the static on the paper it was such a pain!! I used my hair straighteners set to high to heat the powder up. Worked really well but it did make the paper go a bit curly so I just put it under some heavy books for a few hours and they were perfectly flat again. Glue tape to stick down the paper to the card and some self adhesive diamantes in the middle!
It took me like two days to get all the text perfectly aligned. I typed what I wanted out in Microsoft Word but couldn’t get it centered so I opened a document in Photoshop to the exact measurements I needed, typed each line out on a separate layer and used some guidelines to make sure everything was absolutely perfectly centered. Ugh it was such a pain but I could really really tell when something wasn’t aligned right, but I shouldn’t have bothered – almost every corner stamp I did was crooked anyway!!!
What do you think ladies??

@lila2012: aw thanks a lot! I’m normally so so terrible at anything creative or crafty – I can’t believe I made them either! I’ll have to put a pic up when I finally get moving on the actual invites 🙂 xxxx
