I love vintage, old Hollywood glamour, anything quirky and personal to the couple. But I am a huge fan of formal dress! As in evening dresses and sharp suits. I love winter themes and lots of really sumptuous decor.

Oh, and I didn’t have a proper wedding, just a courthouse visit.  So I’m not talking from experience.

We don’t have a theme exactly but most of our decor/color/paper goods choices have been influenced by two things: 1. Our wedding is on a Super Moon night – which we picked for sentimental reasons and 2. I love the Art Deco trend. So we are doing lots of night sky colors and some Art Deco touches.

I haven’t seen many weddings with a dark blue & silver color scheme like ours has.

I fell in love with David Tutera’s Midsummer Night’s Dream so that’s what we’re going with…Shakespeare/A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

We are doing a travel theme. We met on a tour as roadies, became good friends on a US broadway tour and started dating on a Cirque du Soliel tour in Europe. I’m sure that themes will always have some part of a wedding, it shows the personality of the couple. Although ones like ours that can double as a child’s birthday party will be off trend in the future. Oh well, I am excited with what we picked and how it reflects our relationship.

As for themes that didn’t work? The only thing I was disappointed in at a wedding has been where there is absolutely nothing personal to the couple. It’s a day to celebrate them, not look like a stock photo. Even if it’s something small like a few pictures, the cake topper or color choice

I wanted a Midsummer’s Night Dream but we settled on whimsical with small touches of Harry Potter.

How To Train Your Dragon.

I agree with the PP who said the only wedding theme “disasters” I’ve seen have been the ones that don’t reflect the couple at all. I knew someone who genuinely claimed her wedding had been “Mother in law” themed.

I’m doing a Gatsby, glamorous, 1920’s decor themed wedding. Anyone who knows me knows I’m obsessed with the early 1900’s, history, Gatsby and anything from that area so it definitely reflects me and my FI!

I’m not technically having a theme but it’s in novemer(Fall), colors are fall colors: brown, orange, reds, gold. Caramel apples as favors, cake will be fall/ rustic and venue is rustic.
