I need some help/advice for my wedding transportation. I was planning on traveling with my BM and my Fiance with his groomsmen to the wedding venue (from where we are getting ready) and honestly had no problem shoving people in normal cars to get there. The reception and ceremony are in the same place so there is going to be no other travel till the end of the wedding. We are renting a vintage school bus to pick up guests at a hotel so they dont have to worry abot drinking and driving and I figured we would just hope on the bus with everyone else at the end of the night to head to the after party dive bar….
Well my planners (who are amazing) gave me the option of renting Surburbans (sp?) for 6 hours at $600….which totally seemed insane!! Is the SUV just going to sit there in the parking lot the whole wedding?!
Also, I hadnt really thought about a getaway car cause we were going to take the bus…but is the bus lame?
All opinions welcome.
Weddings are hard ;P

Yeah, weddings are hard!
I’m in a similar predicament now – my ceremony and reception are (probably) going to be in a fairly rural setting about an hour away from a decent sized town, and we’re trying to figure out how to get all guests to the wedding and back to civilisation without a ton of tired drivers all over the road!
At the moment, I’m thinking a bus will be the easiest way to transport at least about 50 or so people, but for myself and my soon-to-be hubby, as well as the bridal party, I was initially thinking of transporting in separate cars. On the other hand, given that it’s a kinda long bus ride, it might be better for everyone if we went with them – they travelled so far to see us, the least we could do is sit on the bus with them!
That’s probably not really a lot of help, but I guess I’m thinking spend as much time as possible with the guests unless there’s an actual need for you to be somewhere else (e.g. for photos).

What about hiring a bus? Or mini busses? That’s what my family is doing for my wedding and have done for previous weddings.

I agree with the bus. I think people would enjoy celebrating together with you if you were all together!
