We had paper flowers… and used vinyl records for decor.

We did do cupcakes instead of a cake, but that is definitely different for our area =)

I agree with photo booths and candy bars.  Also, cupcakes instead of wedding cakes.  And first looks.  Sparklers instead of rice/seed/bubbles.  We’re doing four of the five.

I don’t think ice scupltures fits as a recent trend. I can remember weddings having these all the time when I was growing up.

Cupcakes, slideshows, pomanders and oddly no dancing. I have been to three weddings now where there wasn’t any. It was weird…

As for me I want to do a Venetian masquerade, walk down the aisle to the Terminator 2 theme, I am in a band so for one song I am going to sing to my Fiance, thistles in my flowers, men as my “bridesmaids”, and a lines of “do you pinky swear to…” instead of just the plain “I do part” it will be “I pinky swear”, its something me and my Fiance do.

@Corilee13: we’re a pinky promising/swearing kinda couple too! =)

Definitely having MEN on the Bride’s side and vice versa within the bridal party.

Using alternative music other than the Wedding March…Dancing Processional

Candy Bars, Cupcakes, Sparklers, First Looks…everyone here has seemed to already nail it in my opinion.

My cousin’s wedding was last Semptember. She had the fingerprint tree guest book. She also had a seating chart instead of escort cards. I know these are small things, but they are definitely different than the norm. Also, she had a dessert buffet instead of a traditional wedding cake. It was really cute. They had it on a wagon (their wedding was at a winery and very rustic) and it had a single tier cake for them to cut, cupcakes, cookies, brownies, pie, and chocolates. I thought this was really cute. She also wore cowboy boots with her dress. The wedding definitely fit their style. It was very cute and she included lots of cute DIY projects. Hope this helps.

We’re having “Flower Children” instead of just a flower girl. They’re FI’s niece and nephew.
