First off, congratulations! How exciting! Second, I would just say to explain to her your situation as soon as possible! Life happens and even if she is upset initially, if she’s a real friend she will get over it!

I think it would be best to talk to your friend, tell her everything you told us. Be honest and I am sure she will appreciate it. Maybe you can work something out! Good luck!

@nicannette:  Honesty is the best policy. Telling her sooner then later will be better, and she will have more time to find someone to replace you.

I would explain to your friend.  I had a friend in a similar situation who was struggling and my mom ended up paying for her dress which was only $40.00  and she stayed at my house for her trip! I just wanted her to be with me so any changes I had to make for my bridesmaids was totally worth it to me.  The bachelorette party/hair/nails/makeup…etcetc…. really adds up though.  So if you think you will be struggling – now is a great time to tell her so she can find someone else!!! Don’t feel bad though.. things change!
