@nawella:  unless you are an odd size like me (32DD), any department store like Macy’s or even Lord and Taylor will have longline bras. I had to order mine online from a speciality shop simply because of my size, but you can find these at a variety of places, both online and in stores 🙂

@nawella:  In addition to Macys, I ordered a few from Amazon and David’s Bridal (I wanted to be able to try them all on and keep the one I like best).

I got a longline bra by Va Bien on Amazon, and I love it.. make sure though with most longline bras, including this one, that you order a size up in circumference and a size down in cup size.  I forgot to order a cup size down and it was too big in the chest.

What’s the advantage of a longline bra vs a normal strapless bra?

@gingernutjo:  Long line bras are just like they sound. They’re long. Think of a girdle in reverse. A bra will keep your boobs where they belong, but a long line bra will keep your boobs where they belong and smooth out your stomach

@gingernutjo:  Because its long, I got mine for my dress shopping, I am kind of modest and not comfortable being pretty much naked in front of strangers.  But like the PP said, it just smooths everything out in your dress because they usually having boning.  My dress has a ruched bodice so I might not wear one for the actual day

@DJones69:  I was thinking of something like this to smooth me out. http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/spanx-higher-power-shaping-briefs/3008509?cm_cat=datafeed&cm_ite=spanx(r)_'higher_power'_shaping_briefs:246015&cm_pla=underwear/lingerie:women:shaper/control&cm_ven=Google_Product_Ads&mr:referralID=1d0587d8-bb84-11e2-9389-001b2166c62d

But I am worried I will be too hot in my already warm dress. It already has boning and cups, but they are far too large and far apart. I bought a sample that was about three sizes too big that has yet to be taken in.

Here’s a pic of the front

@gingernutjo:  I personally think that if you have on Spanx in the picture, you look fine. A long line bra isn’t going to do much more than what your Spanx is going to do. It just kind of puts a bra and girdle all together. What it MAY do is the boning in the long line may pull your waist in just a little more for some more definition, but I don’t think it’s mandatory and yes, coming from someone who wore a long line, they are hot and uncomfortable.

By The Way… the dress is beautiful

My seamstress recommended swewing in cups rather than long line brass or even spanx because even they add bulk.  TBH I was  skeptical at best but with my corset back I think I agree (and I have many more rolls and bumps than you! ) You look beautiful!

@gingernutjo:  My seamstress told me that a long-line bra won’t slip and slide all night like a strapless bra will. She said it will stay put, so I’m not constantly pulling up my dress. Also, my boddice is heavily beaded, which makes my dress a bit heavier, so she said that the long line bra will help keep my dress up, too. I’m not sure why this is (or if she even has her facts straight), but that’s what she told me… and I don’t know any better so I’m following her advice blindly 😉

@DJones69: No spanx on in the picture. But I am a little worried that my stomach doesn’t look flat.
