When it comes to vendors, shouldn’t you meet in person before giving a deposit? I’ve had some shady vendors wanting to send me an invoice for deposit then do a contract. Vendors that I’ve found through legitimate wedding websites too.
I need to meet you in person, go over contracts and information before giving any hard earned wedding money away!
Isn’t this the correct way to do business?

I would say that you should meet with them first before giving ANY money to ANYONE. One of my best friends runs his DJ company so we did it a little differently but I wouldn’t give any precious wedding$$ to someone I hadn’t met or trusted.

For sure, I wouldn’t book anything without visiting the place.
You want to make sure the vendor is courteous, dependable, and that whatever you’re renting is what you’re looking for [venues, catering, ect.]

I worked with a vendor prior and would have couples offer to pay the deposit before signing the contract and I wouldn’t let them! We encouraged them to review the contract (preferably in person where we could go over it with them right then) and then we would take their deposit. I would just tell them that you prefer to meet in person before putting down a deposit and if they refuse, I would move on. I’m not saying they will scam you, but you want to be comfortable with your vendors on every aspect.
