I’m in the beginning stages of planning my wedding. I’m looking for a venue! I’m having lots of trouble finding somewhere within my budget. I was hoping to have it somewhere that could do the ceremony and reception. My budget is only $3,000 but I only have 30 people coming and lots of help. I’m just really at a loss because it seems like anywhere decent is extremely expensive. 🙁 Only two places I found so far (I want a beach/Ocean view wedding) were Sea Watch (they gave me a hard time about a lot of things so I’m hesitant to use them) and Beach Watch which has terrible, terrible reviews. I can only afford about 35-55$ a person for the meal. I’m planning a day wedding so the lunch factor makes it a bit easier. Anyone know of any hidden gems down in sunny South FL from West Palm to Dania? Thank you in advance.

I think you can contact your local government and rent a slot at a beach for pretty cheap. They can block off the ends to make it private for you. I have a friend who went to a wedding in South Florida that did this. I don’t remember where exactly.
And you don’t have to rent a reception hall. You can try a restaurant. One of the places I was looking at was Maggianos. There wedding package was $40 something a plate.

Hi there. Thanks for the response. I was really hoping for a resort or restaurant located by the ocean where I could just do both but thank you for the thought! 🙂

I would definitely make the rounds of the restaurants in that area. Just keep in mind that the closer you go to the beach, the more they will most likely charge your per head. They know that people want that beautiful ocean view, or to be able to walk out onto the beach and will charge for it. I’m from NJ and when i had first started venu shopping, i was thinking of maybe goig down the shore. I noticed right away that places that were a few blocks in from the beach were significantly less then those directly on it. When I asked why, they were honest and said that since they weren’t beachfront, that they charge less to try to scoop up weddings.

Try Wright by the Sea in Delray. Also, my friend (Priscilla) is an experienced wedding planner in the south Palm Beach County/Broward area; she specializes in beach weddings and she is VERY affordable. She also gets great discounts from vendors so you can save more than she charges as her fee (I think it’s around $750?). Or you can just hire her to help you find a venue (she only charges $120). Her website is http://www.weddingsandeventsfl.com. She is extremely frugal and a top-notch negotiator, and can do WONDERS with a tight budget!!

Hi Jsquared, thank you for the suggestion. I’ve been spending my nights driving along A1A from ft.lauderdale to Delray bothering the restaurants. So far what I’m running in to a lot is that I’m too “Small” of a party and too “low” of a budget for them to afford my group any sort of privacy unless we’re cramped in a tiny room. At this point I’m debating us just getting married on a beach and wandering my 30 person party over to some random restaurant and just surprising them (haha) and sitting down for a random dinner because it would be the same feeling either way and probably cost less. Mind you I’m being sarcastic 🙁
Notyourtypicalbride, thank you. I actually found them yesterday and gave them a call. They told me it was $2000 just to book the site itself, not including anything so unfortunately that is not going to work with my budget. I will take a look at your friend though! 🙂 Thank you!

You are very welcome. I am not kidding when I tell you that she can do wonders with a tight budget. 🙂 She will have other suggestions, guaranteed. Good luck!
