@Paulina0786:  How many people and what is your budget like?  Also, what type of reception-sit-down meal, or other?

@Paulina0786: most venues around here start around 25k. Just make sure to look at tons of places before making a choice!

Tupper Manor was one of our top contenders. Their rental fee is definitely on the high side, and they also have a $15,000 food and drink minimum, so it might be a bit tight on a 20-25K budget.

You said that you were specifically looking for something on the coast – have you looked Nahant Country Club, Bayside at Nahant, or the Elks at Bass Rocks in Gloucester?  There’s also Misselwood in Beverly, but I think that’s also on the more expensive side… or Danversports Yacht Club? Tavern on the Harbor?

If you end up with less people, you could also try Ocean View or Emerson Inn by the Sea.

I think there was another bee who had their wedding at Elks @ Bass Rocks.

@Paulina0786: Most people say that your reception (venue/food/drink/rentals) should be about half of your budget. So it looks like you’re really working with a budget of $10-$13K for the venue, which is a tricky thing to find on the north shore – especially for 200 people! I would definitely research a whole bunch of venues and get the pricing for all of them – and you’ll start to get a feel for what you can get at what price.

@creativeplannertobee: I think it was MissBoston who was having her wedding at the Elks – but she’s no longer a bee due to that scandal a while back with the “snarky” board…

Tupper Manor has a max capacity for guests of 180 I believe.  Greater than 130 and they have to go in this side room where it is a bit closed off.  Just something to consider πŸ™‚

I am getting married there and I love it!  However we cut our guest list down so we could make it work πŸ™‚

I’m getting married at the Nahant Country Club in September – let me know if you need any info. It has it’s pluses and minuses, but the package we got and the affordability of the place put it towards the top of my list. Plus, I loved that we are getting married in a Victorian home, we just loved the building itself!

You have a really tight budget for the Boston area.  Nahant has some great, affordable reception venues.

We had our reception at the Oceanview in Nahant.  They were very reasonably priced, a lot was included in the package and no rental fee.  However, with 200 guests, you will still have to expect ~$20k for the reception alone.

If you want to stay within your budget, you will have to downgrade and find an Elks/VFW/American Legion kind of place.

We were married at Bailey’s Hill Park in Nahant, with our reception at the Bayside of Nahant, they were GREAT (we had 144 guests actually show) and totally would be able to work with your budget!
