Hello ladies! This weekend I will be visiting some wedding venues for the first time ( Lombardis on the Bay, Fox Hollow, and Westbury Manor) With the help of other posts, Ive compiled a list of questions to ask these venues. Hope this can be of help to another newbie bride and if anyone has any additional questions, please feel free to post!! 😉
What dates are available in the month I’m considering?
Find out prices for different times of the day/days of the week.
Is there a coordinator available to help or do i have to hire one separately
What is included per person: cocktail hour, drinks and entrees, cake, place setting, menu, direction cards
What is included for tables: Chairs, table linens & napkins (are there more than 1 choice and different costs), place settings silverware, candles (are open flames allowed?)
When discussing pricing, what could be taken away or omit in order to cut costs, and also what dates would be less expensive
Do they provide decorations? Find out if they provide any decorations you can use for the reception
What lighting do they provide. Does the place accomodate electrical setups for DJ and spot lighting?
Do we need to use any specific vendors (some won’t let you use outside ones)
How many people can this location accommodate?
What the minimum is?/maximum?
When is the final headcount due? Does headcount include wedding vendors (photographer, dj, etc)
How much is the deposit, when is it due, and is it refundable? What’s the payment plan for the entire bill?
Can I hold my ceremony here, too? Is there an additional charge? Is the ceremony site close to the reception site? What is included: Arbor? Seats?
Flowers? Programs? Is there a bride’s changing area? How much time is allocated for the rehearsal?
What’s the cancellation policy? NOTE: Some places will refund most of your deposit if you cancel far enough in advance (often 60 days), since there’s still a chance they can rent the space. After a certain date, though, you may not be able to get a refund—at least not a full one). What if facility is closed due to storm or power outtage?
Are there any other weddings on the same day?
How early can you get there to take pics?
What happens if your guests get there early?
What is the service charge?
Do vendors eat free? 1/2 price?
Price for kids?
What type of liquor? (top shelf?)
Can we do a food tasting prior to finalizing our menu selection? If so, is there an additional charge?
Do you have a list of recommended vendors?
When must the reception end? Ask what time the evening party must end. Some venues can shut down earlier than you may want and the lights suddenly going up will come as a bit of a shock!
What extras can be added on?
What they can throw in for you?
Are there any additional fees?: Bartenders, cake cutting etc.
