Congratulations! I don’t know that area very well but if your preference is restaurants then I would personally go in to see a few in the areas you’re interested in. When you arrive just ask the host/hostess/greeter if they accomodate small weddings. At that point a manager may give you a tour or they will set up an appointment for you to return. If they don’t accomodate weddings then the search continues. It’s best to go when they aren’t too busy though as you’ll be more likely to see it that day.

Best of luck!

smile111:  There’s a restaurant called Michael’s TuscanyRoom in San Pedro.  If this is near you, it may really help your budget: http://topangacommunityclub.com/   I don’t know if this is too far either, sorry I don’t live in CAhttp://www.yelp.com/biz/the-narrative-loft-santa-barbara?osq=affordable+wedding+venues

Check area historical societies or 4H clubs – some might have barns? Or Grange Halls? Those are suggestions I got to achieve the rustic thing. They are proving to be some helpful leads!

Then you could always order in some BBQ or some sort of buffet from a favorite restaurant or even do a potluck dinner if you have family/friends in town.

Another option is to do something earlier in the afternoon or on a Sunday to help cut costs. OH and check local fairs, they sometimes rent out their barns/space during the off season!

Best of luck in the venue search 🙂
